Areas of Interest

The focus of my practice is supporting women who are in perimenopause, menopause and post-menopausual. The age range of these patients typically is 35 years and older and experiencing hormonal changes. I am one of the only Menopause Society Certified Practitioners between Toronto and Ottawa.

Perimenopause & Menopause Care

Hormonal health is complicated but also a key factor for women to feel well. I take a comprehensive approach which includes in depth clinical questions and further testing. Regardless if the women is in her menstrual years, perimenapause or post-menopausal understanding how her hormones are working for her is important. I have done extensive training in hormonal therapies which include hormonal replacement therapy. As a member of the North American Menopausal Society, I also do yearly education to keep myself up to date about hormonal research. My patient care plans for patients include diet, stress management, supplements and botanicals - we only introduce hormones if these other measures aren’t enough support.

Gastrointestinal Health

Our digestive health impacts our entire body. Your gut houses your immune system and makes the majority of your neurotransmitters, playing a direct role in mood and inflammation. Improving digestive health is therefore essential for well being. In my practice I focus on three main areas of the gastrointestinal system: diet, microbiome and functioning. When working on these three components the majority of digestive concerns resolve. Understanding food intolerances, dysbiosis, low stomach acid and so on. Addressing the root cause of why the digestive system isn’t working and supporting its ability to heal.

Autoimmune Disease

Our immune systems protect us from outside pathogens and help us heal. Conditions like multiple sclerosis, hashimoto's thyroiditis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and the other 80 autoimmune conditions, our immune systems start getting out of hand. These conditions are hallmarked by an increase in inflammation and an overactive immune response. My focus with patients is to decrease inflammation and address the root cause, in the cause with autoimmune disease this usually leads us to digestive health. Because the immune system is built in our digestive tract when there is a disease of the immune system we need to address gastrointestinal health.
